Running newest patch as Union, I have come to purchase new HQ unit (REINFORCEMENT SCREEN, SUPPORT TAB) in 1st week of May 1861, however there is NO icon to purchase these, is this correct? have I missed something simple ( as usual!!).

This is correct. Pocus used this to show how things were not high and good in organizational way of war at the beginning. After some time you will be able to purchase it.
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow.
