Game looking great--two questions about music and generals faces?

1. Should I be hearing music? Sometimes there is music playing in the background, but usually not. (Yes, speakers are ON and music is checked ON in options menu.)

2. Some known generals (such as Grants division commanders at Shiloh) don't show up with their face--just a blacked-out spot? Should it be that way? (My apologies if this is a special feature explained in the manual or tutorial. Just wondering.)

1. This is the correct behavior, the music is not always playing.
2. You are right, not every general has a unique portrait yet, but as far as I know will they be added.

there is an interval between the playing of 2 musics, we prefer to let it play from time to time and not have the players disable it after 3 hours of continuous playing...
If the feature is not your cup of tea, there is always the possibility to disable it and then use winamp and such to have it continuously in the background, the files are in mp3.
