AACW and Vista?

Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:19 pm

Hi
Bought a new computer a couple of days ago. Have tried to run two games so far. Call of Juares and GRAW. Have some problems with both.
A search on the web tells me that others have the same problems and that they are related to Vista and also in one case to the Nvidia 8800 series of video cards.
Needless to say I have them booth wich brings me to my question: do you think (or know) AACW will run fine on this new equipment?
Otherwise I'll just have to go back to my old rig as I don't plan to continue playing any flashy FPS a moment after AACW comes out :coeurs:

I read somewhere that Nvidia has problems with their drivers for Vista but I guess this will be resolved soon. As far as I know does the graphic engine of AACW use DirectX, so I think it shouldn't be a problem to run on Vista.
Actually I have Vista too since a while but didn't dare to install it till now, I even doubt that it will run smooth on my PC. I am still happy with XP. ;)

How much RAM does your PC have?
My cheap new laptop has 1GB, Vista uses 49% of it, with no other apps running. It has Nvidia 6150 integrated graphics.
BoA runs fine, graphics wise, but it runs very slow, not enough RAM.

We will try to have a Vista machine before release to check this potential issue.
Don't ask me what I think of Vista...

Thanks for having an eye open for potential problems.
I have 2GB RAM. I'll actually solved all my problems exept for the one with shadows in Call of Juarez wich seems to be
a well known problem with the Nvidia 8800 video cards rater than any fault of Vista.

by the way the Vista recommanded specs will be significantly higher than the XP one, as Vista need a bit below 512 Mb of RAM just to run, and the Direct X 9 legacy version (granting retro compatibility) slow down games somehow.
