Ranks

I may be confused... but why doesn't every general have the ability to be promoted to any rank? i mean, lets say you're playing a gme with hidden generals, and somehow, o. howard is hidden, seems to be the best general you have and you want to promote him to lead a union army...well, the database doesn't have that entry for him... so will the player be unable to put howard in that command? or will howard suffer a command penlty?

just an fyi... i think i completely confused myself in asking this question... :bonk:

If any leader can be promoted to army command then only the best generals will get promoted. You'd never see Bragg, Hood, Burnside, Halleck, Buell,Pope, or McCllellan leading an army.

but you would... due to the seniority and pol values, if you did promote a lower rank leader, you'd take a vp hit, right?

its not a big deal, either way...but i could see it making things interesting if generals names are hidden.

fair point. At the very least we can duplicate their rank 2 stats to rank 3, why not. We will discuss that further in the beta forum, there can be unwanted side effects.
