Blocking supply questions

Fri Jun 10, 2011 3:48 pm

So supply is blocked from reaching you(or enemy) IF

1. The Military Control of the region is less than 25%
-OR??AND-
2. If there are non-supply units in the neighboring regions?

is this correct?

So let's say enemy is in region A river which is blocaded on one side and only region B is bordering him.

If enemy has military control of 24% in region B, no supplies are getting through to him, right?

If enemy has 80% MC in region B and if I have cavalry stationed in region B. Are supplies getting through? or is supply solely based on MC?

Also if enemy has MC of 100% or 26% in region B are they still getting the same amount of supply or is it reduced as MC approaches the lower limit?

Thanks!
I am enjoying the game but everytime I play I have more questions. Keeps me interested thoug.

Supply ability to pass through a region is based only on MC : you need to have at least 25% of control in a region.

It means that even if there are only ennemy units in a region as long as your control is 25% in this region the supply will pass. Obviously your control will quickly fall under 25% if your opponent is alone in the region.

Being able to pass through a region doesn't mean supply will reach you : movement cost has to be satisfied (e.g. bad weather could prevent supply to reach you even if MC is greater than 25%).

Amount of supply received is not related to control : it's all or nothing.

Supply using river movement is another story.

I think this is a good example from the game - Island #10.

Until it's taken, the Union really can't afford to go for Memphis. Similarily with Fts. H&D - river supply is blocked to Nashville. Now, the latter is much easier, because the RR conduit is much easier to establish and maintain from BG and points north.

But Memphis can be irksome and even untenable. Generally speaking, even the Union's might can't maintain an uninterrupted LOS to Memphis thru Greater Paducahland and southwards - it's very vulnerable to counterattack.

The US needs #10 to establish LOS down the Mississippi.

I play the AI on a "Very Hard" setting mix, so I'm acutely aware of Stax O'Doom coming my way to rip out my control and supply. I will maneuver to go for Memphis and hope to buttress control in a few Turns, if that seems to be the indicated move(s), but it's much easier after #10 is in my hands. That's why #10 is where it is. As noted, H&D is a similar problem, but a much easier one to solve.
