there may be some out there, like me, who get a trifle peeved when the army of north virginia is battling around mobile ..so I was chuffed to see this
"For a work-around on naming armies:
+ When you have 3-star General and ArmyHQ in region where you want to form new army, before forming army, save game and exit ACW
+ Go to Factions file (ACW/GameData/Factions)
+ Backup the factions file
+ Open either 0Union or 1Confederate folder, whichever is appropriate
+ Find the GHQinfos line looking like (for CSA):
GHQInfos = CSA|Army of Northern Virginia|badge_CSA_ArmyNV.png|$Richmond, VA|CSA|Army of......
+ Add the following type of section to this GHQInfos line (copy existing section and modify, this is an example):
CSA|Army of Kentucky|badge_CSA_Army.png|$Warren, KY
+ In this example, Army of Kentucky is designated for Bowling Green, KY (found in region Warren, KY). Note that "badge_CSA_Army.png" is the generic CSA Army graphic
+ When folder is saved with changes, start ACW and open saved game file, go to desired region (this example, Warren, KY) and create the new Army. In this example army will be designated as Army of Kentucky.
+ Name your army whatever you want, but this method must take place prior to the desired army formation.
Thanks - Bob "
but, just looking at this, maybe some may have been confused, or simply not thought that, while you have to have the data change in place before you form an army..you can also 'unform' and then reform an existing army and it will ' up date' as it were.
so, even with an existing game you can , before your turn , change the info ,
and then do your unform/form thing and bobs your uncle..er..no reference intended to the gentleman quoted above.
of course everyone else may just be smarter and more on to it than me and have got that first time round !!
