I have read the manual and updates but I seem to be missing something.

Dose the game tell you if your ships are having an effect or war supply or cash?

I assume that your transports and escorts first have to move to the blockade box and then move to the shipping box to gain anything. Is this correct?

I know from playing as the Union that you see your transport values. Evidently this is not a feature the CSA can enjoy, right?

Yes, look at the messages appearing at the bottom of the screen after a turn is resolved. In the first ones you should see one stating the amount of cash and supply your ships bring you.

To gain money or supply, USA has to move ships with transport value in shipping box. CSA has to move its ships in blockade box. Small advice for the South : use ships with good evasion value.

As Mickey said, just look in your messages and it should read something like this "Our commerce raiders brought back 4 Money and 6 War Supplies" something like that, and yes use ships with a high Evasion stat and make sure to put the evade combat order on and dont have them bombard while they are in the shipping boxes, its best to keep them out of combat cause eventually they will be found by federal patrols and start to take hits.
