Your CSA Commerce Raiders have sunk X and Y

Is there any logic in how to sink the maximum amount of Yankee shipping in the Shipping Box? I usually send 3 stacks of about 8 ships into there and it seems that in 1861-1863 they sink a lot of shipping, but after that, no matter how long I keep them in there, they don't.

What are the mechanics behind sinking enemy shipping?

I do not know of anyone digging very deeply into this problem. There was some data from Major Tom over a year ago. I have attached a link below.

All right, but what are the chances of them 'making contact' ? It seems in the beginning my ships sink loads of Yankee shipping, but later on I do not see the message that I sank anything :(

Check for the presence of Union shipping. No shipping, no shipping available to sink.

If you see Union transports, have raiders, and STILL aren't getting any reports of sinkings, post a savefile.
