AACW Scale

Sun Apr 11, 2010 4:11 am

So, I'm learning that I really underestimated the scale of the grand campaign in AACW. It's the only AGEOD title I own (so far... that's going to change) and I was wondering if any of the other titles have campaigns that match the scope of the '61 GC in AACW.

It really is quite epic. I'm loving it (and now have a greedy eye on ROP.)

Thanks for the feedback.

Be warned: all other (current: don't know about VGN) AGE engine games handle reinforcements/replacements differently. You don't buy replacements with money and stuff in any other game; you choose options that cost "engagement points". RoP allows you to buy reinforcments with a different mechanism but same general principle as AACW; every other title has event-based reinforcements.

Having played the Demo for RoP I get the feeling that AACW is just a much bigger game. Thinking of what you need to recruit or how to manage your economy was absent (at least in the demo) from RoP.

It was definitely one of the reasons I chose AACW.

Spanish campaign in Napoleon Campaigns is somewhat comparable in time scale, but IMHO is much more dull than AACW grand campaign. Map is a lot smaller and - as was said above - there are no economic aspect of the game, no unit building/reinforcments as such. And too many errors :( .
