Force Limits

I have just discovered there is a limit to 48 divisions for the Union. This seems rather arbitrary. What is the basis for this limitation and can it be changed? As is the only way you can complete a fourth or fifth army is to have fewer but larger divisions in your corps. Might as well though, since is seems divisions operating independently are very limited since they will suffer a penalty due to being out of command. But mainly this post is to ask; can this limit on divisions be changed either by game option or strategic, political, or economic circumstances?

Thanks for quick answer. I just did that, but only found one patch. I suppose all previos patches were included? If someone can direct me to any site with good mod, I would appreciate it. I have downloaded the one from Ageod.com already. Are there others that are Ageod aurthorized?
