Multiple promotions for a stack

Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:48 pm

Greetings,
1.13b, No mods.
Have a PBEM game where Grant and 2 divisions (Wallace is one div. commander) take Nashville and both Grant and Wallace gains some seniority and are promotable.
I keep the stack as is, and select the promote general button to give Grant his 3rd star, but Wallace also gets promoted and costs me NM and VP's.
I thought only less-senior generals would get promoted if moved to stack where they were the most senior/highest ranking officer?
I have games file if needed to review. I did a search and havent found this problem advertised previously.

regards,
Johnnycai

Part of the problem is you posted in the wrong sub-forum...

Hang loose and Rafiki will move it into the main forum where it might get more attention.

This sub-forum is primarily for problems associated with hardware, operating system or graphics issues (i.e. technical issues).

Its not is it? officailly i mean. Normally you have to give the subleader there own stack then premote then move them back to the main stack.

Thats a boo boo i think.

It is possible to promote multilple leaders in a stack. If the most senior general in the stack is NOT promotable, then the subordinate must be split off to his own stack. If the senior general is promotable, then all eligible generals in the stack are promoted when the button is pushed. This has led to VP and NM hits for me for promoting 1 star generals when I only meant to promote the 2 star general.

That's a limitation of the engine. The order will promote all generals which can be promoted in the stack.

I really like this feature. After a big battle you may not want to separate out your commands and\or create new divisions. It's nice to have everyone still in the stack and be able to promote everyone you want to!
