Orphan Bde.

Tue Aug 19, 2008 5:33 pm

It's early Feb. 1862 and I just got a msg saying that the Oprhan bde. has been formed with the largest army in KY or TN. However, the bde is nowhere to be found.

Is there anything that would cause them not to appear even though I got the trigger msg?

May not be the case but aren't there a few examples - the Iron Brigade is one I think has this issue (haven't played for a while) - in that it appears and is named as such in the messge but doesn't actually have that label on the unit itself?

I'm sure i've noticed a few such things where the unit appearing doesn't have the name to match the text message.

Then again maybe i'm wrong! :bonk:

Sounds like a question for Pocus. KY is a weird place in this game. I'm not sure anyone is real sure what's going on there with all the scripting triggers.

Yeah was odd. We were playing with latest official patch and no mods. The Federals had most of Kentucky and Nashville. It was just really strange because I got the msg but no orphan bde...Oh well my opponent has since conceded so no biggie. :fleurs:

Sounds like they got Nashville kind of early. That could be it.

Yeah this could be it. Here is the event for Orphan bde. It mentions Davidson county where Nashville is located, however, it looks like it also checks things in KY, TN and, MS. Can anyone confirm this event is tied CSA ownership of Nashville?

My guess (being a very recent newb, take it for what its worth) is that its non-appearance has something to do with its duplication - I've noticed in several games that two Orphan Bdes will sometimes appear: one in Nashville, the other in Bowling Green. Guessing again, I think the events were supposed to work so that if the CSA control Bowling Green, the bde appears there, if not then Nashville. Something is goofy with the events though. It's one of several units which are 1) created by event and 2) duplicated apparently because the events aren't parsed or cross-referenced correctly.

Hmm I've never got two of them. I've had it appear every game until this last one. I guess I will need to keep a tighter hold on Nashville if that is what the event checks for....I just don't understand why I still got the message but no bde :bonk:

Here's my interpretation of the event code.
