Gray,

So does that mean the draft option has been rolled back in QF6 and the legacy patch? I don't want to spend time testing them for balance if they will not be in the game.

Would like to know if a link to QF5 could be posted again?

Cheers

downloadingwith IE

I strongly suggest you get a program like wimzip or winrar or a like program. I think the only thing to do with IE is to just let it sit there on the hard drive and use any number of other browser programs.

Hi texican,

try right-clicking on the link and selecting 'Save Target As...'. You should then get a download-pop-up showing you the progress. If you just click on the link, in general, you should also get a pup-up, which offers 'Open', 'Save' and 'Cancel'. Here you should click 'Save'.

That's how it works on my system. I have XP-Professional-x64 and I don't have winzip or winrar. They don't actually have anything to do with downloading the file itself.

For unpacking I use TotalCommander with the appropriate plug-in. It's a shareware without an expiration date that can unpack a lot of different formats from the get-go. For most of the others, like Z7, there are plug-ins. I wouldn't suggest using it forever for free, because that's not really what you're supposed to do. It costs only about $15 online for a permanent license plus updates. It's the one most-use piece of software on my system and I've used it from Win95 though Win98, Win2k and WinXP. Best investment I've ever made; other than ACCW  .

Edit: PS Just on the side, for general security reasons, you might want to think about using Firefox or Opera.

I'm doing a reinstallation, and I've become confused about the patch order for the most up-to-date installation version of AACW. Is it now just a matter of the official 1.14 plus quickfix6, or is there more involved?

Thanks.

That's it. Nothing more to it than that.

Thanks so much for these quickfixes Gray. Just a tiny question. The smaller bde's with 2 or 3 elements still have a command cost of 2 and 3 respectively. WAD?

Hi Gray, I've noticed some differences in quickfix6 compared with quickfix5 that I'm not sure were on purpose. Are these WOD?:

- all 12 lb.er artillery went from being light- to medium artillery family

- the following Indian units have lost their NoCapture characteristic:
67INDApache Warriors.mdl
68INDIndian Warriors.mdl
69INDSioux Warriors.mdl

- the 102USADivision.mdl and 27CSADivision.mdl files only have 50 and 30 division names listed under CustomNames repectively instead of 99 as previously. Does this mean that only 50 divisions can be formed by the US and 30 by the CS, or is this controlled elsewhere?

Hi Gray,

thanks, I misunderstood this whole thing. I've gone back and re-read almost the entire thread and searched the forums for information on the QuickFixes. So basically QuickFix6 does what you have stated BUT it excludes all the other changes from QuickFixes 1-5. It's very difficult to get an overview of what was changed where.

Still, the first page of this thread says that the US starting with 1861/10/1 can create up to 60 divisions, but the file I mentioned only has names up to 50. It may be irrelevant to actual game-play, but I don't know.

Also the NoCapture characteristic was also introduced with patch 1.14c and I assumed that the Indian units I mentioned would be like the early war cavalry units, now having the NoCapture characteristic. I guess I was wrong.

I can't remember where I read that the 12 lb-ers were changed to light artillery, but QF6 puts them back to Medium, which means that they take replacements from the Field Artillery cubbyhole in the replacements screen.

Replacement Costs:
Field Artillery $20 + 3CC + 6WS CC=Conscript Companies
Light Artillery $13 + 3CC + 3WS

Okay with me if both sides are paying the same. One thing is odd though. It now (or again?) costs more to buy a replacement in WS and $ than to buy a new battery.

New-Unit Costs:
20 lb-er $37 + 3CC + 9WS
Rodman__ $36 + 3CC + 12WS
10 lb-er $27 + 3CC + 8WS
12 lb-er $18 + 3CC + 5WS
_6 lb-er $13 + 3CC + 3WS

Also there seams to be a bug with the 12 lb-ers. The Roster screen shows that I have 67 artillery units in the game, 22 heavy, 45 field and 0 light. On the Replacements screen it shows that I have 22 heavy artillery, 45 field and 17 light! I've check all the units on the board, and guess what. I have 17 12 lb-ers.

Same/similar thing with Service Assets (engineers, field hospitals, signal units). One replacement point is 24/1/5, while that is exactly what it costs to buy an entirely new engineer, and more than what it costs to buy an entirely new unit of the other two.

Or I may be missing something. Always possible, given my attention-deficit disorder!

Not everyone. I'm personally disappointed with the decision.

Also disappointed with the whining about changes that were presented as a test and before they were even tried. :bonk:

So no...not everyone. :(

Good news is that a replacement unit generally fills out more hits than the equivalent of one full unit. So, these numbers may be a bit off from the norm, but they are still a bargain compared to starting from scratch....

Replacement costs are dynamically calculated by using a weighted average of the units on map which can use this replacement. If none are using it, then it is an average of all potential units that you an recruit using this type of replacements.

Do you mean that the cost of buying a replacement (buying one of those letters in the cubbyhole on the replacement screen) changes depending on how many units of that type are on the map? Wow, I've never noticed that.
