GL,

Thanks! I haven't been following your mod, but does it work fine for play against the AI?

First I'd like to say thanks to Pocus and all the modders for the christmas patch and mods. One small bug I noticed,on the roster page you don't seem to be able to advance to the next page with the bottem arrow.

Hi!

I have noticed something strange with the new (and wonderful) ROE. Not sure if its intended or a bug but all stacks begin with the red ROE selected by default. So everybody have orders to defend/attack at all cost. :bonk:

Shouldn't the normal ones (orange buttons) be the default ROE??

This happens in both new 1.08 campaigns/scenarios and on campaigns continued from previous patches.

Also, one question: how the new ROE affect the AI??
Do Athenea know how to use them OK or she always fight by default (orange one)?
Could the new ROE be seen as an "unfair" advantage to the player over the AI??

By they way, it seems there are more improvements on the 1.08 patch that the ones reported on the readme! :coeurs:
For example, now there aren't any problem with the RR connections between Richmond and Fredericksburg (reported on 1.07 i) and i see the info about "conscript" infantry/cavalry is again displayed on the unit detail window! :coeurs:
Thanks !! :hat:

Since installing the patch I have no text at the top of the battle results screen. I even tried a fresh install and the same thing.

I am also having the thing with the ROE automatically going to red.

Is there a way to turn the ROE off entirely (i.e. play like it did before with just the four postures)? I don't really like the ROE and would prefer to play the old way. It just seems like too much micromanagement and a cheap way to get around bad leaders to me.

i had the roe automatically go to red the first time i played after installing the patch, but in subsequent turns when changing a unit's posture the roe seems to be going to the default. i also had the issue with the next page arrow in the ledger not working...

still love everything though, great job guys and keep up the good work!! merry Christmas all.

II - Historical Attrition Option

There is a new gameplay option, available thru the Options Window, called Historical Attrition (or 'Hardened' Attrition), the three possible levels are:

Standard: It means that non-moving troops won't lose men from desertions and sickness. (work as before)

Historical, for the player only: It means that non-moving player troops, will lose men from desertion and sickness every turn. The intensity will vary depending of the region they are in. Also, you can only get back men ('hits') in elements by being over a depot.

Historical, for AI too: Same as second option but the AI has it activated too, except for the troops on depot part.

Since Johnston's army in the valley does not start on a depot, I don't think the elements build up at all before they are unfixed in the April scenario. That's a bit of a problem with this rule.

The same would apply to Patterson's Union army in West Virginia.

In fact, there aren't that many regions with depots, and they can be destroyed as well. Only allowing replacements for units in a region with a depot is too restrictive.

I think the events removing Patterson and promoting McClellan are not working in 1.08 for some reason. Can anyone verify?

For me the ROE always goes to a defefencesive posture, and on the forces page I can't advance.

I'm not seeing these problems with the ROE settings. I started an April 1861 campaign (CSA) last night with 1.08, and the ROE settings are all at the default until I change them. This is true for both Attack and Defense postures.

Update: I started a new July 1861 scenario (CSA) this morning and I don't have the ROE problem here either.

I also have problems with the ROE settings and the next page arrow. Additionally, my mouse wheel no longer zooms in/out

My ROE start in defensive posture blue in a new scene and in a saved old from 1.07h, but the roster page arrow is in a top position in a new scene and works fine to take me to next page, but in save scene its at the bottom as was ,and does not work, ,so in new scene started everything is working as it should, hope this helps , i did apply v1.08 first and then RR mod after ,not by fast install but by copy and paste to each folder,

I can also confirm that in a new April scenario, the ROE buttons are ok (default), and that the next arrow on the ledger screens (now on top) works ok. (1.08, RR mod)

maybe these problems are only happening while 'continuing' a previous game? it seems everyone starting a new game is NOT having the problem....

Hi!
I have tried it with a continuing april campaign but also with a new april campaign and with a new Vicksburg scenario. It doesn’t work right in any of this.
At start, all stacks begin with defend at all cost ROE (if in defensive stance) or with attack at all cost ROE (if in advance stack).
But also, i had noticed that once you manually change the ROE/posture settings in a stack, they begin to behave Ok: "orange" ROE as default.
So it seems the problem is only with the initial setup in any scenario or with the current turn in a continued scenario.
I suppose it’s not a big deal... the only problem is with the units/stacks you forget to check and manually change the posture/ROE (forgotten garrisons and the like…)

Also, i can confirm the problem with the arrow on the ledger.
But there is two arrows there, it can create confusion…

The top arrow who gets you from one page/section to another (like F1, F2, F3...). That one works all right.

And The bottom arrow on the unit rooster, who let you cycle trough your forces if there are more than one page. That is the one NOT working for me. At least, you can cicle with the mouse wheel.

Its strange that not everybody had the problems… :8o:
Maybe it’s needed a clean reinstall of AACW??? My version is patched over a 1.07i patch...

Cheers!

Nope. I've been holding off on starting any new games until this patch came out and every game I've started has these problems. I even tried a fresh install and had the same problems.

I'm seeing the units in place at the start of April 61 with 'defend at all costs', but new units arriving after that appear OK with 'normal ROE'.

I confirm the ledger arrow.
Text in my battle reports is OK.

Patch 1.08, no mods.

After a fresh install and patch, the Patterson/McClellan bug persists. Both of these events are in the USA Events file, and it may be that 1.08 isn't firing any of the events in that file.

Yes, I have taken a test game well beyond the point where Patterson should have been removed. I am positive they are not working.

You are free to try it yourself. Turn off the AI, start a new game, and hit next turn until 1862 or so.
