Try to disable the popup blocker. Perhaps, could be that. You can also check the security settings of your browser. :)

I now have 1.16a downloaded. I found it on Atomic Gamer and it downloaded without any problem. Thanks for your recommendations.

This patch (1.16a) may be installed over any original setup edition (DVD, download, etc)? Thanks a lot.
