A bug has been spotted with the AI trying to form corps when it should not, thus leading to an error message (that can be ignored if you are on Error logging, just click yes).

Please find the hotfix to the executable:

Oh no!

At the rate my PBEM game is going, it will be months before the game is finished. I'd hate to have to wait that long to upgrade. And eventhough we're only 7 turns in, we'd hate to scrap the game and restart.

Excellent! That's what I'll do. Thanks, Gray.

You don't need to go through a full installation process; simply copying the entire dorectory that AACW resides in is sufficient :)

Soon, you will just issue a fixed, all-in-one-package 1.13 patch incorporating the new Hotfix for AACW version 1.13, surely?

Gray_Lensman wrote:If you go to the Hotfix thread, you will find that at least the new AACW.exe has been placed in an installer now. I did that just a while ago and had Rafiki post it. First success for me with the Inno Setup Installer. Now I just have to figure out all the other tricks like replacing whole folders.

For now, I don't have enough knowledge to put together the entire package, that'll have to remain for Pocus to do.

@Gray
FYI, I recently stumbled upon a neat utility called Universal extractor (http://www.legroom.net/software/uniextract). It can conveniently extract all the files and directories of zip, rar, etc files, but also from exe setup files. It can be applied, for instance, to the patch.exe files of AACW. Maybe what is needed is just to extract all the files of the 1.13 patch to a new directory, replace the AACW.exe file with the new one and then repackage the whole bunch and create a new installer with Inno ??
It's a neat way, also, to check exactly what are the files inside the patches...

(Or you could just leave it to Pocus :neener :)

I'm in a PBEM, so I haven't had a chance to download the new patch. Did you guys also fix the quirks in the non-1861 campaigns that feature leaders that already exist on the map spawning? Like in the 1863 campaign, the Lightning Mule Brigade and all the new generals are already on the map, yet the "New Brig Gens appointed" event still fires. Also, the French invasion of Mexico is in 1862, yet it hasn't already happened at the beginning of the 1863 campaign.

No Divisions

Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:34 pm

I believe there is a bug in this new patch --- probably in the hotfix --- At least as the CSA [Full Campaign] one is unable to form divisions with any leader. Tooltip says that divisional command has not yet been adopted by my nation. Seems that is supposed to be for Corps, not divisions ... :(

I have not tried the full campaign. Al, I can say is that in a July Campaign as CSA, started in RC5 or 6 (can't remember exactly), and now playing 1.13+hotfix, I am in November 61 and have had no problems at all forming divisions, even after applying the hotfix...

maybe later I will try the April campaign to check it.

hmm?

was just playing and was creating divisions left and right as soon as the armies unlocked...
I have the latest non beta patch, don't have the hotfix.

I remember reading that they were delaying the creation of divisions....but I thought that was coming up in the next patch. (maybe the public beta?)

so the division thing is just for the beta patch?

How's that working out btw? I imagine that it makes the game a tad bit harder.

try my mod. This feature is working in SVF since August 2007 :mdr:

Seriously, armies will be the large inorganized conglomerates they were with huge penalties. But as each sides have the same, balance is preserved. You will have less flexibility for planing your operations for the first months.

So, then ... working as designed?

I don't believe it was working like that until the hotfix was applied.

Small problem with v1.13

Sat Jan 24, 2009 11:10 pm

Hi guys:
Loving the latest patch, thanks for all the hard work.

This is pretty low priority, but I found the following display error when making the rounds on the map during my first game:

When you enable the "stategic cities" map overlay, some cities don't show up as shaded (even though the tooltip shows them as strategic). Off the top of my head, Harpers Ferry and Lexington were two examples playing the full campaign as CSA. There were a few others, don't remember them all- sorry.

If I understand correctly this new patch can just be added to the game out of the box? It has all previoius updates added to it as well?

I had a problem with my game in that with the last update (1.12??) the game would not auto open.....when I would click on the icon it would quickly zip it open, say it could not find the exe file, and close........I had to delete the game and reinstall it.....and have not added 1.12 update yet...I will do this one instead.

GL: Hooker active in May of 1861?

Sun Jan 25, 2009 5:16 am

As I have been away from actively playing for a while, I am uncertain as to whether this is WAD or somehow old Joe has slipped back into the early roster of leaders again.
If memory serves Hooker used to be available until around the time Hancock made some basic changes to leader availablility in mid-2007.
Anyway, tonight I just started a CSA full campaign to "kick the tires" again and after taking Harpers Ferry on turn one, who shows up in early May of 1861 but old Joe Hooker himself (and his prostitutes no doubt...) and he proceeds to hand my command an firm whipping with his abilities and retakes Harpers Ferry in three short one-sided sieges.

Gray, can you confirm where this stands? I thought that Hooker was no longer available in the opening game (as he appeared during the summer of '61 historically iirc) and he tends to be a one-man wrecking crew for the Union during a time when no leader was following Lincoln's orders with much gusto.

Thanks!
ps, using 1.13 HF, no saved games as I am basically goofing around.
