Unspecified event message

Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:37 am

richfed wrote:I'm getting that exact look, too, Franciscus.

Also, after about one year's play as CSA, 3 times the last message in the message screen has been an unspecified event - Code 27, I think it has said.

I get that code 27 quite frequently.

Does anyone know what it means?

Gray_Lensman wrote:I think (guessing) it has to do with the way the scripting was formatted. You can specify 3 different ways for messages to be associated with events.

0. Mute - meaning to suppress the message (none associated. etc.)
1. Line - meaning to just put a single line in the comment box.
2. Full - meaning a pop-up explanatory box associated with the event announcement

What happens is quite a few events were written using the numeric 0, 1, or 2 number above and the meaning of the different text commenting was lost. This resulted in the overuse of "1" in some event scripts that actually have no corresponding comment assigned to them. These events should have been assigned a "0" instead. At run time, when the game engine processes these particular events (with a "1" assigned) and discovers that it can't actually find a corresponding message to display, it displays the error code Type 27 message. Without seeing the "ScriptReport.txt" file, it is hard to find the specific event that caused this error message to be displayed.

Gray,

thanks it was slightly annoying my curiosity.
Now in non-techo language let's see if I've got this right.
code 27 means that there is an error in displaying a message, i.e. there is a message there but the computer can't find it?
Also does it mean evry time I get code27 it is the same message? Or could it be various messages?

Just upgraded to 1.11d. All seems fine except when I hit "3" all my opponent's regions show as strategic objectives. Is this a known issue or should I do a fresh install?

I usually play with the supply filter on the map, now whenever I select a unit inside a city the map reverts to standard filter, kind of annoying...

I think filters and hotkeys problems are fixed on the recently released 1.12 beta patch

I think i read about this fixes on the 1.11g patch thread which seems to be the base for the 1.12RC.
I suppose the fixes were translated to 1.12RC.
In any case both sentry orders bug and filers not working should be pretty easy to check/spot if you have the 1.12RC installed 8wich is not my case! :bonk: :D )

The filters were fixed in 1.11g:
Pocus wrote:UPDATED TO 1.11g, see below.

This patch should be made public very soon, if things goes well that is. It mostly fixes some interface bugs plus add some more modding support.

README
- One of the colored filters was not displaying properly anymore.
- Region control was some time not displayed properly in the region tooltip.
- Fixed an old interface bug when a unit was removed from a stack.

The Sentry order problem was fixed earlier... e? I don't remember exactly.
Regardles, their both still working correctly in 1.12

AFAIK, the hot keys themselves were never an actual problem...
The map filter for strategic cities was, though. The Sentry order would be reset during turn resolution, as well. Both of those issues were fixed.

The colored map filters do turn off during turn resolution or of you change the view significantly, even still in 1.12. They turn back on easily enough, though. I always thought that behavior was intentional...

The colored overlays, aka filters have 1-6 as shortcuts.

Thanks, I think this answers my question. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me alone.

My advice is always to do a clean install (set aside saved games and uninstall first), then patch directly to the latest update patch.

Ok, I'll do that. Just was being lazy. I'm guessing Aryaman's weirdness stems from the same.

1.11d has the problem yes, this is fixed since 1.12 RC1 I believe. Sorry for the mix up, I think I spilled some VGN code into AACW by mistake :)
