Why would you need to find Dallas? If there is a reference to Dallas in the log, clicking on the log line will take you there. If you see that you have a new build starting there and want to look at it, wait for the new patch (1.09) which will take you there from the recruitment screen.

Because of a triggered event, dallas is a Strategic town until the end 1861, which will give me additional victory points.

Dallas is Kaufman

Sat Jan 26, 2008 4:26 pm

Somewhere along the line, the City got renamed to Kaufman (the region name).... :bonk:

I've fixed mine, but this minor change needs to get back into the .inc files and in the database.....

In view of a post in "citis names' thread, Maybe it should be "Dallas-Fort Worth" :niark:

I think in the game design Dallas was put into the Kaufman region by mistake. Kaufman and Dallas were two very different places. Dallas had 2000+ people in 1860 and Kaufman had only about 30 family homes. I think Kaufman should be absorbed into the Dallas region. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next patch.

Kaufman IS the oldest (not largest) town in the Trinity River area which would explain why it appears on many old maps but I don't think it needs to be shown on the game map because of its small size. Heck, even Terrell, a town just down the road in the same county as Kaufman and built around the same time, is bigger than Kaufman was in 1860.

As stated before, Ft Worth should not be combined with Dallas. It was a several hours ride from Ft Worth to Dallas in the 1860's. Ft Worth was close enough to Dallas and important enough IMO that it should be represented in this game though somehow. Dallas was a city by 1850 and so was Ft Worth. Robert E Lee was a col. in the Dept of Texas all the way up to Aug 1860. Lee wrote to his family often from Ft Worth. 1st Lt. John B Hood served with Lee here also and several of the recruits that eventually made up the Texas Brigade left the Dallas-Ft Worth area and headed to recruiting stations in east texas to join the brigade. This means that Ft Worth was a well known place to the soldiers and generals in this game.

In terms of game scale, several hours ride is the same region... :sourcil:
Since adding a new region is a major undertaking, I chose to approximate the situation in the current game parameters by making "Fort Worth" the name of a new fort structure in the Dallas structure. (To my knowledge, we can't have two separate structures in thhe same region).

I think this was already answered but the current game map has Dallas in the Kaufman region. Will the Kaufman region be renamed to "Dallas" in this upcoming release? Sorry to be such a stickler about it but since I am living in Dallas it is really odd to see Dallas in a Kaufman region. It is kind of like having the city of Paris (France) located in the region of one of it's smaller suburbs. :8o:

I know what you mean. It's distracting to see "Chemung, NY" way out in west end of the state, when it's really due south of Finger Lakes. Better name for that region is "Chatauqua" or "Cattaraugas"

...and no, I'm not sure these are correctly spelled!!! :innocent:

Let's just compromise and rename the whole area as "Irving" :siffle:

Tisk, tisk... all you haters. It isn't easy living in the town with "America's Team". Always got those "wish I had a team" people trying to put you down. We just gotta rise above... :innocent:

You could just classify the whole area as "cowtown" or something along those lines. It doesn't really matter to me personally, we're still trying to convince everyone that G.W Bush is NOT a true Texan and that we are nothing like him. It has been a rough 8 years trying to get over those assumptions. :non:

I always thought that there were only three "America's Teams" in sports.... Army, Navy and Air Force. :siffle:

Getting back to the war.... didn't Jerry Jones and Tom Landry have units in the Civil War? :fleb:
