combining brigades led by one-star generals into divisions

Is there a way to combine brigades commanded by a general into divisions? I've tried doing it but the general I try to create a division with will never form a division with any brigades commanded by a general. If this is not possible, then I guess my next question would be why is it like that? Brigades were mostly commanded by brigadier generals with a major general at division command. Thanks, the game is amazing.

No, you cannot do that, only one leader per division. If you wish to fold an historic brigade into another division, you have to break up the brigade first, and reassemble it without its original brigade leader. I have done this in the past for the Irish Brigade and Iron Brigade, whose leaders are only so-so.

Divisions can onløy have one general attached, i.e. the commander. If you wish to include a commanded brigade in a division, you need to detach the brigade's commander first.
