July 1861 as the CSA, although I've seldom made it past mid-1862 before starting over for a new patch or with a new strategy.

First 'proper' game is April '61 PBEM.

My first real attempt was July 1861 as the Union. I used it as a learning experience in both strategy and game mechanics.

I found out the south will tear you apart with raiders pillaging and destroying tracks if you don't get a handle on it early.

I learned taking Forts is very difficult.

I learned the South is very fond of Richmond. If you do take it plan on losing many men and materials. (I wasn't able to.)

I learned you will lose many men when you fight Lee. I was able to catch him in the open between Richmond and Charlottesville with me having an Army of 3 Corps. I won the fight with him having 19000 dead and me 11000. I hated losing so many men but I guess there is no way around it.

I played until the summer of 63 and I'm going to start over today.

Great Game once you get a hang of the interface and mechanics.

1862 scenario as the Union. I like the idea of having major forces already organized.

Will try the earlier scenarios as Union at some point.

He He...
Several "false" starts of the April grand campaign as CSA (in part fault of our beloved prehistoric squirrel, also known as the fastest patcher in the west)

But I have played Shiloh literally dozens of times as CSA. It is a very good scenario, with lots of strategical/tactical choices. Nevertheless, only this week have I been able to score a full victory (previously several stalemates with a better score than USA), which attests to my amazing capacities as a gamer

Except the little scenarios played against the AI to learn the game, my favorite scenario is April 61.
--> By choice, I only launch games with that start date (3 PBEMs: 1 closed and won as the CSA, 1 in Progress at fall 62 now, and a brand new one beginning right now).

I play the Early April 1861 as the CSA the most. I have had a few restarts but will eventually make it through the campaign win or lose.

The hardest part of this game is turning it off to go to bed. This is real easy to do "just one more turn."

Shiloh. I just can't get into the whole war for some reason so far. I'd really like to get some single theater or even more local campaigns like Shiloh to play with, something under 25 turns :siffle:

type7: Shiloh is my favorite also. I differentiate between scenarios and full-war tutorials, like April 1861. Would like to play Western Theatre but can't locate in the mods section as suggested by Pocus. I usually win the stalemate as Union. Tag

It would be nice to see an update to make the Western theater scenario playable as at the moment there are only the very short or very long scenarios available.

In fact I think the game is crying out for such a scenario.

I know that, just I lacked time to properly develop it and the beta testing on it is a bit late too... I'll do my best to work on it upon my return from vacation in August.

The April 1861 scenario. I've played it once to conclusion as the USA (and just posted an AAR about it), and I'm about to play it again, this time as the CSA.

I have only played the tutorials and the April '61 campaign - a zillion times. I love it! Trouble is, I begin anew for each patch. Been into '62 a few times; mid '63 once. One day, I will finish!!! Maybe now, with 1.06.
