Kentucky event / Dallas event

Sat Jun 09, 2007 3:43 pm

1) What about the Kentucky event ?

I'm playing the CSA and I wait patiently unil the USA invades KY. I see this event and some militia in my favour is drafted. All of KY is going to my favour, all of KY loves the CSA.

Then a few turns later I want to invade KY and play the liberator and then I get the "CSA invades KY" event. Some militia loyal to the Union will be unleashed - I think that this is pretty reasonable.

Then I take back Bowling Green and it seems that I can't daft any regular infantry brigade - I check the map again and it seems all of KY hates me ?

I really think that my invasion after the Yankee invasion has angered KY. But this nonsense as the USA has invaded first ... I don't get it.

2) Then there's also the Dallas event - where Sam Houston has taken Dallas for the Union and you have to take it back (Dallas becomes an objective city for 5 months). I take back Dallas a few turns later - nothing happens (no event no reward). Is this WAD ?

Regarding Kentucky, IIRC there is an event in early '62 which allows you to raise Kentucky brigades.

However, I agree with your larger point that the Kentucky events need some work.

what, again? :)

Can you send me the whole saved game Spruce? Tell me the turn where you 'liberated' KY after the ignominous USA invasion also.

did you get the saves?

by the way it's pretty easy to simulate...just start the april campaign and somewhere around turn 7-8 the Union will violate KY and you'll get nice loyalty. Then a few turns later when you enter KY to liberate them - they hate you.

must be fixed now, but games underway can't be fixed automatically, if you had a KY invasion and want to fix your game* (wait for the official 1.04 patch though), you need to open the HST file of your game. Then seek the strings evt_nam_ActivateKentuckyUSA and evt_nam_ActivateKentuckyCSA. For each event, set the MaxOccurs entry at -999

This should like that after editing

{EventState}
Name=evt_nam_ActivateKentuckyUSA
Occurences=1
MaxOccurs=-999
{/EventState}

and

{EventState}
Name=evt_nam_ActivateKentuckyCSA
Occurences=1
MaxOccurs=-999
{/EventState}

Occurences can be at 0 or 1, it does not matter here.

*: meaning if you don't want the second side to take a loyalty hit, if this is already done we can not do anything.

1.02b demo

So far I havent had problems with Kentucky events.

Started new game today and voila! Turn 3 and got newspaper clipping saying CSA inavades Kentucky. I centered on the region that sparked it and it seems that my TN brigade sitting in Lexington in defensive posture was responsible for this. I reverted to previous turn a few times and each time got the same reuslt. Weird.

Turn 4, USA attacks Lexington, log says "USA inavdes Kentucky" though letters are black this time not red.

My question is: which of this messages is more important? If CSA invades and paper clipping pops up does that mean that no matter what Kentucky population will now be hostile and loyalty will drop to 0%?

there are still bugs in the events in 1.02 version this is why you get both sides reporting an invasion.
