In case you missed that...

Fellow gamers, Civil War II is out! :w00t:

In a no small feat (shameful plug!) we tried hard (and hopefully succeeded) in proposing a better Civil War game. Without sacrificing the old game on the altar of 'streamlining' (for some publishers it alas equates to 'dumbing down' ), Civil War II is giving you a cleaner, more accessible game, thanks to a brand new interface and some revised mechanisms.

New options for new players, so they can enter the game more easily. Three tutorials, worked extensively by the team.

Bigger map, so we can have extra scenarios seldom (if ever) seen in a computer game on the CW. New features like regional decisions, viewable structures, more ships types (cottonclads, mortars boats), redone graphics for all units and leaders, development level for all regions (from the Wild west to old Massachusetts), independent factions, and more.

Everyone should find features of interest to check in the game. You can also check the developers diaries for more details before doing the leap.

Downloading it now [ordered the box set w/ download]. Thank you guys!!

Question: Download says v100. Does that include the patch to v100b [or, maybe c] as in the Beta?

No, patch b, c and others are internal to betas. Release version was sent when we were in 1.00a in the beta.

I only just (after off and on play this year) got through BOA II, and started my CSA full campaign last night on ACW I. Before oct. 61 i had Washington under siege, but lost General Lee in an 8k VS 30K defense of Richmond (we won though, somehow...) I can honestly say it was already an impressive game, but with the larger map and improvements you guys have talked about here, it sounds like ACW II is even better. I have two questions though: If you have played both, would you recommend I continue with ACW I until a less 'beta' version is released? Are the tactics radically different between the two games?

I bought the full AACW2 with printed (glossy colour) manual because I like the AGEOD guys. But, cringe, even though I am only an occasional player and then of the shorter scenarios, the earlier version is more charming for me, and the game play about the same.
