46 days??

Hey, I'm playing the Yanks in the April '61 campaign, and I just moved Pearson's Pacific Squadron from California to Fort Pickens in the Gulf. It said the journey would take just 46 days. Was that possible in 1861? Even with steamers?

Seems a bit too quick. The clippers in those days could travel from San Francisco to New York in 90 days, assuming favourable weather. Not sure how many passengers they could carry. Needed a highly disciplined crew. Don't know enough about the steamships, and how fast they could go then.
