"Invading" Kentucky

Wed Apr 18, 2007 8:26 am

Is there some unwritten rule regarding sending forces into Kentucky in '61? I've noticed events in this game saying "X has Invaded Kentucky!" usually followed by "Kentucky has Joined Y"

VG's "The Civil War" had such a rule...and judging by the events I've witnessed so far...this game seems to be in accord with TCW...namely, Kentucky will join the side that does not violate it's territory first.

Have I pretty much got it right? Are there any other bells and whistles to this rule (if my intuition is right on this) we should know about?

Yes it is pretty disturbing, In my game I have stayed Cleared Of Kentucky, except for the few militias there, and waited for a While, then the Union takes Lexington, has the Camp event, etc... And I see I have Kentucky in My loyalty/Economy ledger... Should I feel free to move now ? It is november 1861 and I feel I let My chance slip by being too respectful of Kentucky's neutrality... Meanwhile in Missouri I have built milicia, cavalry, lost Rolla and Jefferson City and Still haven't got the Sterling Price activation event ???

All pretty confusing. I am not saying that we should know precisely how and when things happen, but have an idea of what might happen would be good...

We have reworked a bit the Kentucky events. We shall make some explanations there soon.

As for Sterling Price, you only get it if the Union chooses a hard stance in the Saint Louis Massacre event...if he does not, no Price...the good point being the Union does not get Nathanael Lyon (and losing Price for this is well worth...the price :sourcil: )

Well...'choose' is a unadequate term here... let's say Union has 75% chance to adopt a hard stance, 25% a mild one. This is random and decided by script, no player's choice here (let's say it's a local authorities decision beyon old Abe's control :innocent: )
