Bull Run Scenario - Creating Corps

Fri Apr 13, 2007 2:32 pm

First off, I had no issues with downloading and installing the game.
Looks great, btw. Tried the tutorials and have read the manual twice in full.
In the Bull Run scenario, the Union divisions start with Grant south of Washington and I seem to be unable to form a corps using the instructions.
I tried ending turn to see if it was a cohesion issue but cannot create a Corps.
What am I doing wrong??

John

Sorry, maybe I didn't get the point but I can't reproduce your situation. Where do you find Grant in Bull Run? :8o:

To create a corps you need at least a general with two stars. This general has to be "free" i.e. not part of a division.

I've noticed that sometimes after you have disbanded a division so that you can use the two star general in it to form a corps, you have to actually click on another tab and then go back and click on the first tab before it will let you use the general to form a corps.

Maybe that is what is happening to you.

IIRC there has to be an Army created near by first.
Is that correct.

Correct. A corps is always attached to an army.

And shortcut "shift" to see army command radius and if units of the future corps are in or out.

Sorry Folks,
Its McLelland(not Grant) and his divisions that are in Bull Run.
There is a 2 star general commanding one of his divisions. Is the answer that I need to disband his Division and then select him and the units to form the corps I desire.

You need to disband the division to get your 2-star general out if you want to use him as a corps commander. You can then rebuild the division without him. To create a corps you don't need to select a unit. It is only necessary that a 2-star general is in the stack.
