Disappearing Fleet

Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:43 pm

I am playing the 1.16 beta, and so far, everything has gone well, in a PBEM game.

But on the past turn -- which was in April of 1863, and heretofore there were no problems -- every single naval unit, of which there were at least a dozen, disappeared from my Atlantic Shipping Box. No battle was fought, and they are nowhere on the map. My opponent professes not to know their whereabouts, either.

Needless to say, this has put a big dent in my game, as I am now frantically building transports, and my planned amphibious invasions will have to be suspended.

Has anyone else seen this happen? I am hoping he has a previous turn and we can go back to it.

Thanks very much.

Will do. At the moment, however, we have rolled the game back three turns. If it occurs again, I will certainly post it. There is always the bizarre chance that I somehow deleted all my ships, though for the life of me, I cannot imagine how I could do this without first getting some sort of "are you sure you want to do this?" prompt, as you get when you disband units.

OK... long shot here ... but: is there any chance they just died due to lack of supplies?

There is, of course, always the chance of this. But my habit (and this is about the sixth time we have played PBEM) is to each turn check every fleet, and any transports that were at zero supplies would be sent to a friendly port. Since the bulk of this fleet was transports, each of which normally carries 120 supplies, it seems very unlikely to me that the entire fleet would run out at the same time.

Anyway, we have gone back three turns and restarted, and so far there have been no problems. Thanks for your thoughts.
