Please help!!

Sat Jun 04, 2011 12:08 am

I just patched to 1.15 and now my game won't start. It starts the loading process where it has the blue progress bar and says "AGE 2.0." The progress bar gets to about a 5th of the way in and then the game crashes.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program ... no help there. I've emailed AGEod a week or so ago.... I've heard nothing back.

My system specs are:

A Intel Duo Core 2 2.4ghz w/ 4g of memory & 256g of vid memory, ATI Radeon XT 2800HD. I'm running WinXP w/SP3.

Can any help?!

Thanks!

What was the previous patch?

Not sure ... but I usually keep the game as patched as possible.

I meant the patch that you had before you tried to install 1.15 patch... Were you playing without any patch?

No ... I was sure to patch after I bought it a few months ago, I just don't remember what version the patch was. I know i was patched to the version prior to 1.15.

Have you tried uninstalling the game (completely), then reinstalling and patching directly to the newest patch? It's tedious, but multiple patches applied on top of each other makes any errors incurred along the way carry forward.

There is a 1.16 v4 beta patch, which if I'm not mistaken there is no reason to not use unless you were using a mod designed for 1.15.

Obviously, the 1.15 patch is more stable than v1.16rc4a, at least IMHO. Therefore, has not yet been officially released the 1.16 patch ;)

Yes ... I did that. I uninstalled and re-installed and then patched straight to 1.15 because it's supposed to be a comprehensive patch. It didn't seem to help much.

Hi!

With the previous patch, did it work fine, didn't it?

Anyway, try uninstall all folders completely, I mean that when you uninstall the game some folders have to be cleaned by yourself. Make sure do it and then install the game again. You also can try to install in other directory.

Good luck!

I meant that during the release of the several candidate patches have been found some bugs that had to be fixed with a new candidate. It's something that had not happened with previous patches. My intention was not bother, it's just my humble opinion as I said, Gray. ;)

Regards!

PS: I'm glad Lodilefty is back again and recovered!

P. Cleburne and I played a PBEM with rc4a, IIRC - months ago. I don't remember any noticeable glitches on either end and he never emailed any complaints.

Course, the game ended with a humiliating USA Defeat (losing DC) on my part, in June 62, so we never got further. Got very frustrated with PC (Stonewall)'s mastery of defense in VA; I got a bit overly ambitious and left myself vulnerable.

I still get nasty notes from Mrs. Lincoln. Oh, well, at least they canceled their theater plans...

I asked a similar question in another thread but I never really got a clear answer.

It seems to me once you end the turn it is written over and you start from the start of that next turn.

You can go back to the last turn by going to the load game option and hovering over your save game and hitting the home key.

You might try that to get a look at what happened.

I have not used it much and I don’t know that you can go back more than the one turn.

A Intel Duo Core 2 2.4ghz w/ 4g of memory & 256g of vid memory, ATI Radeon XT 2800HD. I'm running WinXP w/SP3

I could make an intelligent guess or two, to help you on the right road, but they are just guesses, bear in mind.

* I don't how long dual core has been out, but my XP rig was back in 2005. It almost sounds like you've got prety good HW with old SW. First guess - try running the game on one processor. You'll have to google this, it's something like Set Affinity and you might be able to do it without using the Command prompt.

* You might want to ask Tech Support - I am unclear if AACW can be run on XP that well or not - it seems you were running it before. IIRC, AACW is not a big memory hog and you have a fairly robust CPU anyway. So, my instinct is that your rig is OK, it's just you're three MS OS generations behind.

Best of luck.

I emailed the AGEod tech support about a week before I opened the thread ... haven't heard a thing back.

If it is XP that's causing the problem, it's certainly the exception and not the rule. I run games now that are certainly more graphically intense and with more memory requirements without so much as a hiccup.
