Coastal Supply

Tue Dec 28, 2010 3:54 pm

Does a depot in a coastal city have to be connected in the supply chain to another depot, and so on to a supply source? I notice after having taken Morehead City and putting a depot there that it does not seem to draw many supplies, as other depots do. I had thought the Naval Supply capacity would take care of this (and I can move about 2400 supplies with my fleet).

I'm not getting it.

Gray, in your first link I saw a post by you in which you said -
"I don't think the depot's demand reflect's the number of troops drawing from the depot but rather a finite capacity that the depot has. "

which seems to contradict what you just said in the above post -
"You have to have combat units in the same chain drawing supplies via the depots which act as storage transfer points for those same combat units. "
As I read this, your first statement indicates that supplies flow to depots independant of the presense of nearby units, where your second statement indicates that it is dependant upon presense of nearby units.

The second link talks about supply trains, and doesn't mention the functioning of depots at all.

Mmmm, I'm not sure the waters have become unmuddied at all. I have a couple of large stacks inland from Morehead City, with supply wagons to "attract" supply, but the depots do not build up any supplies regardless. However, I do not that every two or three turns, the supply wagons fill up, so presumably the supply function is working as intended.
