A better example of a clusterf*** is Shiloh. Of the books I've read I believe 2 of them described the armies as "two mobs of armed boys" by the way that the battle went. I'm influenced twoards that point of view even more based on how it actually went, starting off with the surprise attack on Sherman and Prentiss, the defense of the Sunken Road, Johnston getting killed, Prentiss forced to surrender his entire division...now I want to read another book on it!
Murfreesboro is definetly one of the best examples of two armies with the same plan too.
