Enemy strength numbers

Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:02 pm

How reliable are these? Seeing the monster armies my Reb opponent seems to have everywhere I move, I have lately begun to wonder whether I'm not suffering from a fit of McClellanitis.

I think they are 100% reliable.
Depending of your detection value either you see the real numbers or you don't see any at all... but i don't think the game adds a Pinkerton effect in them ;)

It'd be cool if there was a Pinkerton effect.

Does anyone know if the deceiver ability actually works? ie. Magruder and Beauregard.

I don't know if it works currently, but I think the effort is making it harder for the USA to see their numbers. If they get a read on his power level it is still accurate. At least thats how I understand it,

Either that or he's recruiting everyone from the cradle to the grave, white, black, or other color, firm or infirm, sane or insane.

Well, the "poor spy network" trait (McClellan 2-star and generic 3-star) makes it harder to see your opponent's units, but the reports are still accurate. Maybe for AACW2? (hint hint)

Alot of times the AI has trouble efficiently organizing their troops. So if you see a massive army, check its command usage. Usually it has a 35% penalty.

I want to applaud you on your post as it has given me an idea to use in my next game against that pesky yank of a nephew! :)

The strength rating does not take into account the leader modifier. So, if a leader conveys a 20% modifier, the strength on the map may say 500, but the overall strength display of units to the player will show 600. At least, that is what is happening in my game.
