Wed May 20, 2009 1:27 pm

Hi,

I would really like to build a depot in Alexandria..but it`s not possible..however I make the units (one Regular unit with leader and 2 Supply Cars, only 2 Supply Cars..) I can`t build a depot. The black message box where usally the field is says: "A City over 1 can`t be destoryed"..

I can`t look AACW wiki it is still offline...controlled by USA 100%..Loyalty 21%CSA/USA 79..

Thanks for help..

Howdy Dudosh,
Of course, my first question would be why? Since Washington sits right there......
Anyway, if the supply wagons just arrived there with everyone, I think you have to wait a turn before you have that option. Try merging another unit to the supply wagons. Could it be that there is already a depot there? Just thinking out loud here.

Hi Dudosh,

Firstly the supply units have to be on their own so to speak. They cannot be stacked with other units.

Also what version of the game are you on? The reason I ask is that I think that after 1.13 Gray introduced a change to creating depots. (I say I think because I've currently stopped at 1.13b)

If you have a later patch then I reckon its that you only need ONE supply unit of 4 elements to create a depot. ;)

Edit Dont rightly recall the composition of the 2nd Supply Train but I know the US Army Train has 4 elements in it.

I think depots have to be greater than 50% strength too. Perhaps you're trying to use battle damaged supply units.

No, the problem surely will be that some of the 8 wagon elements are not full of men. If some element of a wagon is at red, you cannot use it for create a depot.

This may be a silly question, but does Alexandria already have a depot? Maybe that's why you can't build.

If you are playing with 1.13b then you still need two supply units - not one. Change in elements did not come about until 1.14 beta (I think) :) Check the status of your supply units. If they are well below full strength ....as Manstein and Topeka have indicated....then you will not be able to construct a depot.

I've just tested with 1.13b myself and it works fine with two supply units (8 elements) at full strength. ;)

Thanks Soundoff, it was that both units was under 50% of manpower..I choosed two supply cars that had above 50%..and it works..because the AACW wiki is still offline, can anyone tell me the costs of a Fort?

Thanks

I believe it is 4 artillery and 2 supply.

Some changes must have been made with river transports deploying into depots from version 1.12 to 1.13b. In 1.12 as the CSA, I was able to use any combination of the initial river transports as long as two units were involved to make a depot. I would make one at Montgomery and Pensacola. But with 1.13 I can only use the four-element transports to make a depot. Two of the two-element transports can't be used, and I'm stuck with them sitting in habour.

Gray got me thinking.....Wouldn't the tooltip say the reason(s) why the depot couldn't have been built?
