I second that!

I've read that book about eight times and keep returning to it when I want a American Civil War book fix.

Battle Cry of Freedom is a good one, though I find it a bit lenghty on the premise of war (too much details on political moves). At least you see the things coming :)

I find the politics, antebellum, and the behind-the-scenes wrangling to be some exciting reading. The Whig Party was great -- too bad its only two elected presidents died before a year in office.
