Not really. There are filters on the left-hand side of the screen that show things like supply, control, etc. But none for removing units or map details.

I'd encourage you to stick with the map for a bit. It is busy. But each bit of detail really does matter. And I've found it all becomes second nature pretty quickly.

To continue our discussion from the FOF board and sticking with my policy of emphasizing what I LIKE about a game when I'm on their board (were I on the FOF board I'd be talking about detailed battles): I really do think the map in AACW is it's strongest suit and superior to that in FOF. The reason is the detail. There are more provinces, hence more variation in terrain, more room for maneuver and overall more impact of the map on gameplay. Really, in AACW, the map is your friend.

I realize that a lot of the graphics on screen are to give rail, road, cities, etc., type of information, which is necessary for play, but it would sure be nice to selectively turn them off to study the map with just units and terrain, before making moves.

PS You won't hurt my feelings if you tell me there is, I could be having a "senior moment" :bonk: , if so just kindly point out the way.

One of the things I found helpful is to toggle on either the states' or grand regions' overlays (their buttons are over the mini-map). Sure, the various pastels aren't as attractive as the default AACW map, but they seem to filter out (or blend over) a lot of busy detail that distracts from unit and city location. For me it improves situation awareness and planning movement greatly.

There's also a toggle for highlighting who controls strategic cities which is a less drastic option than the above.

Good luck!
