Strategy / Engine question number 2

Tue Mar 12, 2013 9:22 pm

I was wondering what is the best way of passing enemy force or whidrowing from region shared with enemy.
Imagine – a typical ageod region – two armies fighting there – bit inconclusive battle – one army ( letst name it A) is trying to withdraw t, - the other (lets name it B ) trying to destroy/blockade/starve army A.

What should be the right combination of stances? My view wast that it should be blue/blue ( defensive stance ) - as it generaly implies not going for a battle. But does it mean as well that the army would give up any active try to move and will be blocked? Perheps one should try to break through? Or maybe the right choice would be passive posture?

And what is the right posture for B army – should it stay where it is and have ofensive posture? Or rather it should take an ofensive stand and move to the region where enemy is escaping?

As far as I understend any MC points in surrounding regions seriously limit the posibility to escape there.

And the very last question – what if on army is besieged in the fort? As far as I understand and thats the way I played my games the best way is to avoid being surrounded – and it is worth not to leave huge army inside of a structure.
But if something like that happened and there is no army around that would help, the only way is to move stack outside of the fort and have an offensive posture.
