The landing of troops did not result in a major uprising in Ireland any more than the landing of British troops at Toulon resulted in a major uprising in France. Throughout history, up until WW2, amphibious landings were very difficult and could often result in disaster without complete control of the sea, as with Napoleon in Egypt. The chances of German troops reaching Ireland in 1916 seem impossible without the almost total defeat of the Royal Navy. After the German 'victory' at Jutland the High Seas Fleet did not venture out in force again, only German submarines and occasional raiders could operate outside home waters, totally insufficient to maintain any German force, anywhere overseas.
All of this comes under the heading of what-if scenarios, such as the Sealion Campaign which is already available. I have given up many games as they fall into a predicable pattern, stifled by an attempt at realism, which allows no variation. What-if, additional options, are very welcome, as long as long the core game remains true to history.
I have only just started to play this game and am not qualified to make much comment, but so far, it seems to have the promise of a great game.
To quote Clausewitz -
Everything in war is very simple. But the simplest thing is difficult, the game should be easy to play, but results (e.g. amphibious operations) difficult to achieve, this game looks like it might pass the Clausewitz test, but don't make things too easy.
