Log file

Wed Feb 03, 2016 10:30 am

I dislike the small window for the log file.

Is there a text version I can copy and open to make it easier to read the log file. That would also allow me to keep previous turn logs.

Prefect. A name would be nice or location. Is it under "My Games" or the "Matrix Games" directory??

You can get where the files are saved by checking the Options window, main menu

I think (I could be wrong) that he is referring to the message box in the lower right corner, where the turn resolution messages are displayed.

Hmmm. I already looked there. Which of the 213 files is it.
Is it the !Main Log.txt in the Logs directory. Nope.
In the Logs\AI directory. Nope.
Is it in the saves directory. Nope, they are all .hst files. I can open them with notepad but are not the game log.
Is it in the scipts directory. 75 text files. Interesting but no turn log I can find.
Screw this.
Your Turn Log is the worst log viewer I have ever encountered. You have 6 lines viewable. There is no Page Up or Page Down command. The Scroll Bar is useless as it scrolls 18 to 24 lines with the slighest movement. The only way to move through the window is use scroll wheel on the mouse. If you move it very slowly, it moves 3 lines at time. Stll very easy to move 6 or 9 so constantly move back to make sure you dont over look anything.

All I want is have a Page Down button I can quickly look though the look while being sure don't I skip past something important. And being able to look though past turn messages would be nice too.

If you don't want to tell me how to find the Turn Message Log, Fix the L@#*(%$89 turn message viewer.

It makes me think you don't actually want people to look at the log.

 Meister, the messages are in the .hst file, but they are not in simple clear-text; certainly nothing that would be of use. You can pick a message and search for a part of the test in the .hst file, but some if the test is in meta-characters and variables in the .hst file so not every string in the messages is in the .hst file, which is what makes it practically useless for what I believe you want.

If you are scrolling too many lines at a time, you will need to adjust your scroll-wheel speed (Number of lines at a time) in Windows: Control-Panel -> Mouse -> Wheel. Depending on your mouse, you might even have the ability to set the mouse and scroll-wheel speed per application, so if you like to scroll really fast in your browser, while you can still set it scroll really slowly in WoN.

Either drag the scroll bar, slowly, or wheel your center mouse button one notch (and not more), to scroll 3 messages.

Personally I have a Logitech G500 mouse, a good compromise between acceptable price and ease of use. You can switch easily between scrolling the mouse wheel 'continuously', and this is mightily powerful to scroll pages upon pages of documents very fast (to get to the top or bottom in one second, very handy when coding) or you can have the mouse wheel scroll a single notch, that in AGE will move 3 messages (half the panel) and only 3 messages.

We never got complains about that, so perhaps a slight tweak of your mouse should be enough.
