Allow building depots in allies' territory

Sun Jan 31, 2016 11:28 am

Right now a big problem playing the french is that you can use your speed advantage to go whack Austrians or prussians but eventually you'll have supply problems in winter wherever you are in Austria or prussia mainly because the supply grid has big holes in it in Germany throughout your allies' territory and you can't do anything about it...

Pocus said it might be possible to build depots in allies' territory where there is no structure. I couldn't make it work but if it could be implemented it'd be great. The french don't need to keep it. If it switches to the allied straight away it's fine. The key is to find a way of keeping supplies going. Am sick of having troops starve because of the issue.

Thanks.

Hello,

Not that I want to be a hassle, but if the devs could chime in on the matter, I would be most grateful : the supply issue is really bugging me right now : having supply problems in the richest part of Austria just doesn't make sense. supply flow and grid are major issue :
- Do my supplies as french travel to me using my allies' depots or not ?
- Does this mean that when on allied territory and further than 3/5 provinces from a french depot, so say somewhere in Bavaria, I am effectively using the bavarian depots to feed on bavarian supplies only ? Because then there is no way Bavaria can be expected to feed 200k french soldiers by itself for a prolonged period of time.

This is really a big issue.

Sure, I wanted to check the problem this morning but I won't have time today. I'll see why you can't even build a depot in an allied region without their structure, that is indeed abnormal.

Thanks Pocus. To be honest I tried to do it via the military units (i had enough troops and supply elements, etc), not via the RGD which I never use for this.

Thanks but this links with another question : would the french supply hop using allied depots or would ONLY the local allied supply travel that way ? Because then the problem remains : if my 200k Grande Armée is in Bavaria and feeding ONLY off bavarian supply, no matter how many depots there is between France and Bavaria, there will remain a big big problem.

I tried to build a Depot in the region Lodi in Kingdom of Italy which has no structures. The Build Depot Icon is white and when pressed, says you can't build a depot here.

if the depot is your, the supply transiting through it will be your.
I'll check asap the problem.

The depot is only yours when you have mc. In my allies territory or after a peace, the depot isn't mine anymore! The key issue is can my french supply reach french troops stationed in Bavaria or am I just pumping from theirs, in which case they just can't feed my 250k guys! That's the issue: we need french supply to be able to use allied depots, basically annex all allies to the french supply system.

I believe that if France were added a a sub-faction to Bavarian regions that would solve both the display of supplies flowing through the minor (and other minors such as Wurttemburg), and also enable depots to be built. Adding a sub-faction to a region, the region is displayed "as if" it owned the region.

That can be painful to do by hand because every region needs the sub faction added.

Problem would be how to deal with provinces changing hands, alliances being broken, etc. This overall problem needs a solution, it's infuriating to see the Grande Armee start starving in winter if one hasn't fanned his corps super well because of this.

The real problem is you accepted a peace offer and gave all your annexed territory back to Austria. If you had not given your annexed territory back to Austria, you troops would be living well off all the supplies the territory you had annexed would have given to you.

Don't accept a peace offer. Only bad things happen. Just don't do it.

Thing is the game should support regular peace intervals: it's what happened!

No argument from me, but the game doesn't work that way.

The update notes from the Feb 04 patch says you can build your depots in allied territory.

Our wish came through.

Good job!

I tested it and it worked for me. :)
