Cassus Belli Issue

Sun Feb 28, 2016 6:41 pm

In my single player, Pressburg was signed. 6 turns later, Austria got an "Infringement" Cassus Belli against France. Not sure how this happened since there was peace and foreign access, but Austria declared war and France lost foreign access.

As a temporary work around (or not), I've done this which will keep Austria in line for the 48 turn peace duration, but I don't think Austria should be getting ANY Cassus Belli versus France while peace and foreign access exists. This change will also prevent Austria from violating the peace in Multi-Player.

Please post save so Pocus can see why this happened. Should be a code fix.....

you should set conditions so that your event doesn't trigger before peace treaties!!!
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

Unfortunately the save is long and gone. :(

The timer event only kicks off when peace of pressburg is signed and after 48 turns, it shuts off. So should be good for a temporary fix.

Same problem again with Prussia. Tilsit signed and within 7 turns, another infringement cassus belli and war declared. I'm going to add the same logic to Tlsit timer that I added to Pressburg Timer.

This was done with my mod, so not sure how much save game would help, but I have it if you want it. The infringement cassus is clearly there turn before they declare war.

?

Please understand that within the base game, France can fire the Duchy event while at war with Prussia and then Tilsit will wipe it out. So this is a base game issue. I've fixed it by adding another script that checks for Duchy creation and restores it after Tilsit. So there's now two Duchy events. Initial creation and post-tilsit recreation.

In the game the whole F4 scripted events and the diplomatic engine are actually very separate concepts and the game has a very hard time making them work together.. This is why we see problems like Spain releasing french Spain in a peace with the UK, etc...

I really wish that they had looked harder at a few other games way of dealing with diplomacy - some of the best were Crown of Glory and EU4 ... The RGD cards are great but they should not be part of treaty making, peace resolution etc.

Cheers,
