Screen display problems

Thu Jan 07, 2016 4:23 am

The native resolution on my rig is 1768 x 992.Whenever I play the game, the top and bottom sections of any of the ledger screens (F1 thru F12) are cropped off at the top and bottom of my screen. This makes several buttons inaccessible and therefore renders the game pretty much unplayable.

I have tried playing around with different screen resolution settings on my PC, but if anything these efforts have just made the problem worse. There aren't any options in-game to remedy this problem.

Does anyone have any ideas as to a solution for this?

Hi Clarkey :hat: , and welcome to the forum.

What monitor and graphic card do you have?

Hi Capt. Orso

My graphics card is an NVIDIA Geforce 760.

I don't use a monitor as such. My PC is wired into my TV. All I can tell you about it is that it's a Samsung.

You are then definitively not in 1768x992, because the game is playable starting with a 1366x768 resolution. See the attached screenshot for a game played at your resolution. To force a particular resolution of the game, you can edit <game path>\Wars of Napoleon\Settings\display.opt (this is a plain text file). edit the start of the file so it looks like these lines:
ScreenWidth = 1768
ScreenHeight = 992
ScreenDepth = Default
ScreenFrequency = Default

Clarkey, not knowing what resolution your TV supports is an issue. Through what interface are you attaching your TV?

I have figured it out. It was, as is so often the case, an operator error (on my part). A while back, I set the text size setting on my PC to 150%. I had (wrongly) assumed that this would only affect how text was displayed on Windows itself, and over the months I simply forgot about it. Apparently this setting also applies to WoN, and thus expanded the in-game text, including in the ledger boxes. To accommodate the larger text font, the boxes were then also blown up by 150%, becoming to big for the screen in the process. Adjusting the text setting back down to 100% has resolved my little problem.

I appreciate the replies I received on this thread. This is the first time I have consulted an Ageod forum. It's nice to know that there are folks out there that are willing to help :)
