Quick question from a newbie to Ageod and WoN

Tue Dec 15, 2015 3:47 pm

Hello all,
Quick question...I am new to Ageod games and have recently purchased and installed Wars of Napoleon. I tried the Waterloo scenario, and upon trying to advance to Turn 2 the game CTD. After reading all of the threads, it sounds like this is a reoccurring problem. Also having read that the first patch is tentatively due out today, so should I just wait for the patch to come out with the hope that the patch will take care of the CTD, or is there something else going on that I have to take care of on my end with my computer? To be honest, I am not computer savy at all, and wouldn't really know what to do if it is a problem with my Windows 8, Norton Virus, etc. I am really hoping that the simple answer is that when the patch is released, that this will take care of everything for me. Until then, I have been patient knowing that the first release of many games have teething problems. I am very excited to play this game, but would like to know what others' experience has been with new releases from Ageod and subsequent patches. It seems that the gaming community is very active with Ageod's line of games, and support is available.
Thank you,
Chad

CTDs are have rarely been a problem for me with AGEOD games, and despite some of the criticism going on here on the forum about some bugs in WoN, Ageod does a great job of patching their games and usually they become really stable after the first patch. So I wouldn't really worry about my computer setup if it's fairly recent and up to standards, but if you upload the logs to show what happened, the devs will be able to help explain if the issue rests on your side.

Veji!,
thank you for your quick response! I don't understand the criticism that some aim at a game that just came out, but I can certainly how frustration can sometimes boil over. My computer is up to date with the graphics card, processor, etc., or at least it should be. My computer was built out 18 months ago with top of the line components (although 18 months is long enough to render many things obsolete with computers), but Im sure that I should be fine. My bigger worry is that after the first patch, that I will continue to have CTD issues related to other software incompatabilities such as Norton Virus, etc., in which case I will have to try to figure out what is going on and how to solve it. My problem is that I am a little ignorant when it comes to uploading the logs or how to even find them. I am much better at flanking attacks with Prussian cavalry than I am with computers. I just didn't know if other owners of Ageod games have had similiar issues with prior game releases, and if those problems specific to CTD went away after the first patch.
thank you for your response!
Chad

If you have Norton virus (yes you are right in writing Norton anti-virus as a virus ;) then you better contact support: support@slitherine.co.uk because this software is notorious in creating problems in ageod games.

Is there anywhere in previous posts that describes in detail how to get Norton Anti-Virus to not interfere with the game? Didn't know if this was a common problem that others have commented on and how to "turn off" Norton so that the games works smoothly. Any other compatability issues that could cause the CTD that are common? Again, I very, very seldom get into the settings on Windows, Norton, etc. to change things. If not, I'll wait and see what happens with the new patch, and if that doesn't solve my problem, I will contact the support team at Slitherine.
Thanks again!
Chad
