On the Dutch section of the game map exist the (Overijsselse) Vecht instead of the much broader and strategical more important river IJssel. Why?

The river played after the Battle of Leipzig as element in the defence of the French homeland a main role in the defence of the central en western parts of the still by France annexed Netherlands. The IJssel was the northern extention of the French Rhine-line (running from Koblenz in the south to the broad of the IJssel in the north. Late November 1813 this has caused the by a Prussian army (supported by Cossack cavalery) won 1st Battle of Arnhem, having some remarkable similarities with the 2nd Battle of Arnhem during Operation Market Garden in September 1944. Taking the control by the Prussian of Arnhem and its pontoon bridge was crucial to be able to liberate the central en westen parts of the Netherlands and because of that of more historical importance than the arrival of the Prince of Orange at Scheveningen during the same day. If the from Nijmegen expected strong French reenforcements could have joined the French defenders at Arnhem the combined French power would have pushed the Pruissians back across the river IJssel and a fast liberation of the Netherlands (as happened) would have been impossible. Remarkable and not understandable is that the late November 1813 fought 1st Battle of Arnhem is almost forgotten in the historiography.
Later in the 1950's and 60's the river IJssel played in the first two decades of the Cold War about the same defensive role (as the extention of the Rhine-Line to defend the central and western parts of the Netherlands) as in the French defensive strategy of late 1813 after the by Napoleon lost Battle of Leipzig.

Regarding the Dutch map, it has some serious flaws, most important the absence of the river IJssel. In size the fourth river of the Netherlands, split from the river (Lower) Rhine at Arnhem and running to Zwolle were it flows into the markant salt water inlet having the name Zuider Sea (Zuiderzee), since 1932, after finishing the Closure Dike, changed in the fresh water Lake IJssel.
My suggestions regarding the Dutch map are, see also the added picture below:

Remove the province name Leyden (a city nearby Den Haag) and place Amsterdam there, thus on the spot were it belongs in real situated at the southwest corner of the Zuidersea. Along coast, connect Den Haag with Alkmaar this to prevent that ships in the Amsterdam harbour can sail directly to the North Sea and vice versa as raslitic in the game period. Texel is in real the island north of the naval base Den Helder, my idea is to rename Texel in Den Helder.
Rename Rotterdam in Gorinchem and please, eliminate the huge map flaw by placing the missing river IJssel (a minor one would be oké) as a branch (being an important one) of the Lower Rhine. For that (it would make the game map much more realistic) I suggest to rename the province Arnhem in Zutphen or Doetinchem, this to represent the Achterhoek (and Liemers) region situated between the German border and the IJssel river. Replace Arnhem to the were on the current map Utrecht exist and place forests in that province, representing the Veluwe area having large forests in real. Replace the province Utrecht to the location were Amsterdam is on the current map, Utrecht, not Amsterdam being located west of it, should be situated on the Dutch Water (defence) Line.
The next suggestion, rename the current Rotterdam province in Gorinchem, I tell you why.
The Lek river is not a branch of the Rhine river connecting Rotterdam with Amsterdam, in fact such river don't exist and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal was built in the 1930's. The Lek river is in real the continuation of the Lower Rhine flowing along Arnhem to the west, indeed, being another name for in fact the same river. The broad river at Nijmegen, just after the Rhine has passed the German-Dutch border (I live in that region) is the main stream of the Rhine but renamed there as Waal river and further to the west renamed as Merwede river. It can act between Nijmegen and Arnhem as the combination of the Lower Rhine (a branch of the mainstream of the Rhine) and the Waal. Both, being the continuation of the Rhine in Germany further upstream. Were the Lower Rhine has reached the town Wijk bij Duurstede in the province Utrecht it is renamed as the Lek river and again, just east of Rotterdam, renamed as the Nieuwe Maas (La Nouvelle Meuse - the New Maas) Rotterdam is built (today) on both sides of that river. I know, the network of rivers and streams in the estuary of Rhine, Waal and Maas (Meuse) and how they are named there makes the situation difficult to understand.
Please rework the river Lek as a continuation of the Lower Rhine to extent the river to the east and join it with the Rhine-Waal combination at the border of the replaced Arnhem and Utrecht provinces. In the west give the Lek river a sharp turn to the southeast (representing with some imagination there as the Noord river (in real flowing from Dordrecht to the Lek river at the point were it is in real renamed in the Nieuwe Maas, to join the main stream of the Rhine river again. The northern part of what is the lek river at the curent map, now joined with the Lek running as it should be, can as a part of the Dutch Water defence Line with some imagination considered as the Amstel river.
If you look at a real map you can see that at Rhenen, a town at the border of Utrecht and Gelderland (Arnhem), the Lower Rhine starts to run in a northwestern direction, creating a greater distance between Waal and Lower Rhine, also because of the Waal river is turning between Tiel and Zaltbommel temporary southwest, being renamed as Merwede just before it has reached Gorinchem, located on its northern river bank.
On the current game map the developers can may-be use the still not used peninsula west of Nijmegen to make an island of it by placing a short river between the Maas and Rhine. This is realistic, instantly west of the rushwoods of the Biesbosch area exists the connection between Maas (there named the Amer river) and the Merwede. The former peninsula, in the new created map an island, can be used to replace there the province Rotterdam, also representing Dordrecht (between Rotterdam and the wide Hollands Diep) Of course the Rotterdam province has a bridge with Den Haag but no bridge connection to the south across the wide water of the Hollands Diep, the Moerdijk Bridges built much later between Dordrecht and Breda, did not exist in this game periode.
For the new (extra) created Rotterdam province you can join in the east of the Netherlands the Apeldoorn and Enschede province into on single province and maintain for the joined provinces the name Enschede. To have at the north-side of the Zutphen of Doetinchem province another single province also situated between the IJssel river and the German border.
