Missing Save Files

Sun Dec 06, 2015 9:00 pm

I have been playing the full campaign and noticed that the save game file was always present, until now, when I clicked the LOAD option. I was having an occasional CTD, so I deleted the userpath.ini file in the game files as was suggested over on the Matrix Forum as a possible fix for CTD's. Now I notice that the save game file is no longer present. I had wanted to back the game up a turn due to a mistake that I made with the saved file option. The resume feature is still working, so I know the game is being saved...anyway to bring my save game file back so that I can back the game up a turn or so if I desire??? The screen is blank when I go to the LOAD option. Thanks.

Per default your Saves, and all logs, etc. for that matter, are written to 'C:\Users\{your_user_name}\Documents\My Games\Wars of Napoleon\NCG\Saves'.

From my understanding, if you delete the 'UserPath.ini' file, the game will revert to using the \Saves folder underneath the installation folder.

I have no idea why they said in the Matrix Forum that you should delete the 'UserPath.ini' file without explaining the consequences, nor how it should be any improvement. The reason for using the Users home folders is so there are no conflicts with permission to write and update files as within the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\' and 'C:\Program Files\' folders.

Anyway, you have two solutions from which to choices:
- Recreate the 'UserPath.ini' file (it's just an empty file) (right-click in the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Wars of Napoleon\' folder, New -> Text Document (.txt), name it 'UserPath.ini', and save.
- Move 'C:\Users\{your_user_name}\Documents\My Games\Wars of Napoleon\NCG\Saves' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Wars of Napoleon\NCG\Saves'.

If you need any more help, feel free to ask.
