Annoying renaming of stack when merging units

Tue Sep 02, 2014 1:08 am

I find it very annoying when I merge some units into an Corp or Army it renames the stack to "Central Powers Corps"! For example I merged a supply wagon into the II. Kavallerie-Korps and it was renamed into Central Powers Corps... I hope this will be fixed soon

You can hold Alt and click on the Corps to rename it whenever and whatever name you want...

I think the problem is that even custom names get erased once he merges new units into them.

I think it's not the case, but I need to take a look at it to confirm. I also hated the "Central Power Corps" generic name, and I always give names to my forces.

Usually once renamed that name sticks even during reorganisation. But I think I might have seen some exceptions but wasn't paying close attention to that...

The original name is stored and if the added content is not too important compared to the original content, then the original name is kept.

I notice there is a difference if you drag, lets say, a supply wagon over a Corps or a Corps over a supply wagon. If you drag a suppy wagon over a Corps the Corps retain it's name. If it's the other way around then the stack is renamed to Central Powers Corps

Ah sure, in this case you want the corps to get the name of the receiving stack.

No, frustration with stack names is not new but was there in all previous games, it just never get fixed.
This is in fact very annoying. When I create a stack form a Corps it is named "8 - Armeiskii Korpus", when I add a division it becomes "Entente Corps".

What is needed here is a feature to lock the name like we can lock the stack.
Another option would be a "stack name = selected unit" feature, namely if the button/hotkey is pressed, the stack automatically is named like the unit that is currently highlighted.
