Multiple CTDs with 1.02 RC2

Sun Jan 04, 2015 3:57 pm

During the resolution phase of each turn, I suffer a CTD immediately after the cursor changes from supply drums and crates to a pen but before units begin to move and fight. Per the dialog box that appears after the crash, I am posting the log files here for analysis. After the crash I restart the application, load my turn and it processes normally; but, when I attempt to process the next turn, the CTD repeats. I have attached the logs from the last 7 turns. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Pocus,

I updated to 1.02 RC3 (Jan12 - 2015), but I am still experiencing the same issue. I have attached the log files and Backup1.

I can't say I reproduce the problem. I gather it happens if you run 2 turns in a row, as if you reload a turn and proceed to the next one, there is no bug? I tried that and no crash. I'll ask if others get it.

This is true. If I experience a CTD, reload my turn then proceed to the next one, it processes normally; however, when I attempt to process the following turn, the problem returns.

Yes, this was the symptom of a bug that ought to be fixed and I don't get it... I have asked people in the beta forums to check your save.

I found that I can avoid this problem by saving my turn before processing then exiting to the main menu. In the main menu, I choose "Load" rather than "Resume" then process my turn; no CTD using this "workflow".

This is only a work around and is not satisfying for the general public though. Can you try this quick fix:

http://we.tl/qyo6VUQ1aN

get from the link the new EAW.EXE and use it instead of the old one please, and report back. Thanks!

Pocus,

This evening I had time to run 3 turns after swapping the EAW.exe files. All turns processed normally without problems. It appears you caught the bug! Over the next few days I'll run a few more turns just for further confirmation then report back. Thanks for the effort to track it down.

I'm also experiencing relatively frequent crashes (one crash per 3-4 turns on average). Sometimes it happens on the very beginning of game session, sometimes after couple of turns. I haven't played Grand Campaign yet, only short scenarios. Game is updated to 1.02 RC3 with EAW.EXE quick fix. After game CTD I'm able to load and execute turn without problems.

I would like to post game logs but I don't know which file(s) I need to post and where are they located.

I installed TEAW to C:\. The program placed the log files here: C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\My Games\To End All Wars\EAW. Post all the log files. The folder will be quite large, so you need to use WinRAR to compress it before attaching to your post.

Unfortunately there is nothing in the log, probably because you restarted the game after a crash. Next time you get it, can you please exit the game and then save the log?

Also before doing so, please be sure to apply this quick fix, this will help me trace the error:

Another Crash. This time, not during turn resolution but while accessing War Production Screen. Log file attached. Game version is 1.02RC3 with quick fix.

Can't say I reproduce it, seems to happen in your log when you clicked the switch button, top left.
