advice for beginner :)

Fri Oct 07, 2016 10:28 am

Well, could use any sound advice.... I just started playing so please fire up any good advice. I cannot access AAR section and manual is not very good written (I just love manuals who contadict itself in some sentences, way to go btw!)...

I did play TOAW, WiTE etc so I am not so stupid to not learn this game but need some advices because I still have to read all manual and etc... Has anyone wrote game guide for this or something? But I like the game and as I said game design is OK and game looks really interesting. So fire up some hints, strategies, advices???

French and Russian has ammased HUGE armies in almost no time and are advancing. Esp. French Plan XIX through Ardennes is dangerous. I made disposition of German comittment in the East. Stupid. I am just trying the game still don't know to play good.

This is a challenging game. Try to learn the command structure, this is actually a good thing to read in the game manual as it is different from most games.
The deployment to take the East is not stupid, you simply need to be very aggressive to knock back the Russians.
My suggestion is to start with a small scenario. The East Prussia Campaign is actually the place you should start. It focuses upon all game mechanics except production.

Thank you very much Durk. I will play the game but yesterday I almost wanted to shoot my PC because AGEod keeps with their legacy of making one of most unintuitive game interfaces I have seen in (any) game(s).
OK, I will not talk now about save game system which is "strange" at best.

What I cannot grasp, and it is not just like that justified that AGEod is small team, lack of resources bla bla - I am talking about Game Interface. Now, certanly I am not expecting that game interface be like in TOTAL WAR games although many developers could learn even from those mainstream games how to make and interface.

Let's look at Dominions 4 - well it can be compired with EAW, small developers team and also some map and unit movement is similiar.

In EAW if you are trying to reorganize some stacks and send coprs into different directons, well it's a mess because you cannot see clearly where each corps is going and player can easily get confused. Not to mention that
provinces are small so if you are trying to reorganize armies by drag and drop you end up merging armies that you didn't wanted to merge etc...

Well, I will try to play some more but I am on the verge to throw game in the garbage because of so lousy game interface that AGEod is using to torture players.... That is no way to design games!

Sorry if I have offended someone it was not my intention and I really like the game and I TRY OH GOD I really try to play the game but I don't like torture in playing games and sado masochistic approach in some games.
Map is splendid for example, all details,.... and all ruined by attrocious game interface.

You can "lock" each stack if you are having problems with too many in a region, just right click on the unit's tab in the stack panel at the bottom of the screen. They won't merge with anything if you inadvertently drop them on another stack then.
You can see where each corps is going after you have given them orders as each one will have a line showing you what route you have ordered them to take with a circle in the region at the end of it. If you click on that circle it selects that particular stack.

This is what I was looking. I know that I have read about it, well I have read all manual but something just passes... well thanks a lot, this is great advice.

Well, you know this game gives me a little bit of fright - because either of these plans are not so very good for CP.
I mean, I could use some advice here?
Do you propose that I take Moltke and Conrad plan?

Well to defend in the West and to attack East? Serbia for 1915 and Bulgaria entry?
I like idea of sinking of Russian Baltic fleet. Anything else?
As I am new in the game I don't think that I could pull Schlieffen plan but that plan brings no penalties. Are those penalties much?
