Saving Games

I'm sure this has been posted a million times ... but just before I hit done with turn I want to save. Then if I want to test something or see that I forgot to do something ... I can load where I left off versus having to move all the units again. I hit the save button but I can't tell how to retrieve it.

You don't need to hit save before ending the turn, the engine does exactly that for you. Save is only used if you want to stop mid turn while plotting your orders (and shut down the game).

So... to restore your previous turn, go to the Load window, select your game and then you have a 'file service' button. Click on it then on restore.
