Allied merchant shipping

Tue Oct 07, 2014 5:02 am

Hello all,

I noted as playing CP in the full campaign that the allied merchant ships leave the 'Atlantic
Shipping Box' and join the fleets :neener:
After reading page 88/89 of the manual, now I know why UK had a high rebel alignment.

Thought I would say something and see if anyone else noted it also.

It's been noted for v1.00. I haven't had time for a decent CP game with the public betas, so I don't know if it's still a problem.

Yes, this is a problem. Merchant ships should stick in their shipping boxes. Perhaps they should be locked as it happens for the German ones.

I just ran a two short game as the CP playing the historical campaign and noted that by Early September only one merchant ship counter was in the box and by early October, none.
Early January 1914.. shipping box was empty of allied ships! nothing.

Seeing that I have only played the CP, I ran one short historical campaign until late January 1914, and have not seen a single u-boat or raider hit the shipping boxes in the Mediterranean or Atlantic.

maybe a perm fix for the merchants is need that can't be unlocked even if attacked?? and U-boats can only be used in shipping boxes??

Yes UK AI always goes out of the war in 1916/1917 because of this, no matter what else happens.

Now that we have a better AI and a potentially longer war, it would be good to address this behaviour before official release.

I would need to get a save when you as the German recently hit the Entente shipping (not more than 3 turns before) so I can see how the merchant fleet reacts. It should stay put in the box, or at worse repair and goes back there... The box is clearly identified by the Entente as a special box, so this is weird it does not behave properly, and yes that's important!
