Mega Stacks

Mon Oct 06, 2014 9:43 pm

I'm playing the big campaign as the Germans and it is spring of 1915. I'm encountering (western front) allied stacks of 4000+. Is there a limit to how many units/armies can occupy a hex/province?

This is a known issue. I strongly advise you to install the current beta patch as it seems to solve the said problem.

If you already use the said patch, you've just came accross a major issue that needs to be reported asap.

Are they all in one stack or just in the same region? Same region is fairly normal, as Athena prefers to concentrate for offensive action that way. Doomstacks, on the other hand, should be out with the beta patch and I haven't seen them since the great 1.00 doom armies of greater doom for creating doom.

I can't really tell if one stack or in the region ... the counters appear to say 4000+

Hover your cursor over the stack. Provided your intel is good enough, you should see the different corps and armies in the region. A lot of units under the "Also Here" part means they're separate stacks, not just one big mob.

If you don't mind peeking into the enemy side a bit, you can load the game as the other side and see exactly what they have there. I'd be interested to see what you find.

I certainly hope the doom stacks are gone. And, frankly, having 4000+ units crammed in a single province, stacked or not, is still a bit disappointing.

Athena does that in the public betas, but usually only for a turn. The next turn you're retreating and trying to rebuild your line if you failed to heed the warning that 4,000+ power in a region provided. ;)

It would seem that creating a huge army in a single province would create logistical problems ... so many of the troops would be so far to the rear that they would likely have little impact on the battle. There should be some limit as to how many troops can occupy a single province...
