New Patch 1.02 READ ME

Wed Feb 25, 2015 10:31 am

Hello dear players,

The new patch is now out. You can get it with the auto-update feature if you bought the game at Matrix or Ageod, or automatically if on Steam.

Also, if you prefer to archive the file, you can get it from here:
ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/ToEndAllWars/ToEndAllWars-UpdateComp-v102.zip

A note though: the patch will reset 2 settings that you might not want. The first is a red debug box. You can go to Main Menu, Options window, System Tab, and uncheck 'error logging'.

The second parameter is having all the map loaded at start. The new patch disable that, resulting in a faster loading time but hiccups in scrolling the map. Again, Option Window, Media Tab, 'Load textures at start'.

and now, ** THE CHANGE LOG **

Gameplay
Improved retreat logic.
stacks don't retreat from regions not having an offensive posture stack
Stack in retreat or doing MTSG can't cross blockaded river or pass through 'front' because of ZOC.
Leaders will only lose seniority on January 1st and July 1st, this should help for promotion potential.
There is a 25% chance that artillery manages to counter fire enemy artillery instead of firing on a frontline element.
Evasion value for stacks with leaders was erroneous in some cases
Decisions and partisans can remove only one depot level per try.
AttritionLoss stored for each group and displayed as a single message at end of turn (includes weather and wear&tear)
besieged group can't escape besiegers with evade roll
Evasion is pro-ratised to cohesion

Interface
Better AB display in Forces & Units list, leaders sorted properly by name. Units ID sorted as expected (5th before 11st)
In Forces, Units, Regions listing, can scroll one page at a time with key up/down. Tooltip added to the scrollbar also.
NEW: You can abort a move waypoint by clicking on the move roundel (where the travel time is displayed).
Several bug fixes related to the display of hits in the battle report.
Better unit name display
11 nationalities (was 8) are now shown in the replacements screen

Historical setting, data and events
Fixed C.Dobell is now British-Arab commander
Added British and Turkish Cammel Brigades
Added Etienne de villaret French Army commander
Fixed errors and missing texts in Stormtroops RGD
Fixed missing images for Arab sub commanders and British Medium Arty
Fixed all key terrain movement errors for tracked units + Alpine terrain too low move costAI
Ai fix on blockade run estimation
A variety of others events and historical data fixes

Engine
Improved game turn loading (-40% faction loading time, -15% overall hosting time)
Extra script command related to weather.
Fix to ai bug not replacing player properly
Fix to recurring crash on next turn (message about a pre-export crash).

Downloaded the new patch and started a new game as the Western Entente and found the F2 screen is glitched. Here’s a screenshot, all other F screens are fine it’s just the F2 screen that has an issue. If I mouse over any of the areas that should normally be interactive, everything on screen starts flashing rapidly. This is the very first turn before executing anything so a save file shouldn’t be needed.

There is another report about that, but we don't reproduce it. You patched a non-Steam version, right? Did you use the update in the launcher or the independent patch file? Were you in 1.01 before that? Did you apply the DLC, before, after, not at all?

I think I was patched up to the most recent beta patch, but cannot be 100% sure. So if not the most recent beta than the one just before it for sure, but I do try and keep my games as up to date as possible. I downloaded the patch and installed independently. I was not even aware there was any DLC out for the game so no DLC installed. I have a non-Steam version of the game.

I had the same problem. I deleted all my EAW files, then did a fresh re-install of EAW 1.0 and put 1.02 on that and it seemed to clear it up.

EDIT: I have run into something strange though. In the message box was an entry "stfrTrafficPenalty2" and when I looked it was from the Bornholm Sound. That is a sea area and the only units moving through were the German navy ships going to protect the Baltic trade. Is traffic penalty applied at sea? Or maybe it was an issue that was cured by the re-install - we shall see.

Fresh installs of both the game and new DLC from scratch and it works now. So the issue seen above was probably due to updating one of the beta patches. But I guess it is also possible not having the DLC installed was the cause.

I have updated latest beta version with new official patch using launcher and everything works fine in F2 screen. I don't have DLC.

I dont have the DLC, but the fresh install worked, so I think that was it.

So the problem was because of the use of public beta patch only?

Unless there has been a recent change to decisions played by the AI being hidden by FOW, it appears the old issue is back where the AI doesn't play any decisions. I'm into March 1916 as the CP in the new scenario and the AI hasn't played any decisions at all. This is a fresh game install and then the new DLC installed and allowed to patch it to 1.02 during its install.

She might be starved in resources, if you check the initial force pool, there are tons of units to buy (I see several hundreds infantry divisions!), so perhaps you won't see decisions being played before 20 turns... I'm telling you that because the code did not change on decisions, and the AI parameters to play them, in the database, has not changed either, so this is highly strange that a bug appears on this point.

Opened up the WE and you can see in the screenshot they have resources, yet they have never played a decision to get gold or any political decisions to try and counter mine, though Mexico did join the CP for some reason. I must have missed the event text declaring Mexico in game so I’m not sure why it entered the war.
