Bloodier battles and why they are better.

Sat Dec 06, 2014 5:56 am

Hello all, I have noticed that in this new patch battles are much, much bloodier. Many have complained about it but I like this, in the current Paradox Mass game (where I am Austria-Hungary) it is October 1914 and casualties are approaching 1.5 million on all sides. In other words, just a little shy of the historical number at this point in the war. I actually see this as an improvement for immersion, even if the retreat mechanics are currently a bit out of whack.

What I would like to see, instead of a reduction in casualties, would be some kind of mobilization regional decision that you could play once a year in the country box. This would give you a massive boost in manpower but would cost NM and/or Rebel alignment. After all, we want the armies and casualties to approach their historical sizes right? Then let us do so. Let the blood flow!

There is an issue in retreat that is currently fixed though.

Can you elaborate on this? It's certainly immersion breaking as it currently stands (probably the worst defect of TEAW at the moment).

Battles should be bloodier, but I have noticed forces retreat much much easier. I wish we could see more battles that the sides fight in the same region for MC, especially when on standard stance.

In 1.01, retreat rules were 'hardened' but the axe swings too far. In 1.02 RC1 (due soon and already available to beta), retreat rule should be between 1.00 and 1.01, and with 2 bugs removed.

Pocus,

Any chance this hardening has causes this loop in CW2? http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?38411-Not-retreating-after-losing-a-battle

This one is in EAW yes and has not been removed, but I added first the impossibility to retreat if the opponent was too strong in the battle region (zone of control effect) but it is currently removed now in the 1.02 internal beta patch (which is due soon to the public).

I've experienced similar in CW2. Is it impacting CW2 RC3 as well?
